What Makeup Artists Don't Tell You!

The most important thing to do before any makeup application is skin preparation. Ladies, I can't express this enough.  When your skin has been cleansed, exfoliated, and moisturized your makeup will glide on and your skin will look flawless. After the moisturizer is on give it five minutes to absorb into the skin before any foundation is applied. Your foundation also has got to be chosen by skin type. This means, if you have dry skin your skin will look best with a creamy foundation. If your skin is oily then you should be applying an oil free matte finish foundation. Normal and combinations skin types look best with a light to a medium liquid foundation.  Also, when choosing a foundation color always try it on and make sure the color is exact to your skin tone. Please! I repeat, please do not go according to what the color looks like through the bottle or whether you think or have been told what your skin tone is. Every cosmetic line has a range of colors and tones and they are all very different. So if an Ivory color is a pink tone with one cosmetic brand it doesn't mean that ivory with another brand will be the same; it could very well have more yellow than pink in it.  Also there is foundation that has a neutral tone to it, that means it has little pink and a little yellow.  So, always do the stripe test down the side of the cheek and make sure it immediately blends into your skin.  If it doesn't, it's not the right color for you. Age is another factor to consider. When woman get older their skin is usually dry so they tend to use a cream foundation but the problem with creams is that it also tends to fall into the creases and make the lines on the face stand out. So, make sure if it is a cream it's not to thick  and it's a light coverage. I find that liquids work best on the more mature woman especially if you need a heavier coverage. What most woman don't realize is that the foundation should really be treated like part of the skin care.  Always go according to skin type and your skin will always look great. Once your skin preparation is done you're ready for the rest of your makeup application. Until next time......
