While walking down the street one day, it occurred to me that, in order for the economy to continue to see revitalization and recovery, we must take a simple, but effective measure. The feeling of overwhelming responsibility became a part of me. The feeling of unselfishness, the feeling of release, and the feeling of gracefulness filled my heart with peace.
The simplicity of giving. Realizing that a gift do not have to always be monetary. A gift can be a smile, a hug, a phone call, or a word of encouragement. Purchasing for a stranger a newspaper, a cup of coffee, a lunch, or a unexpected dinner. These are forms of gifts that demonstrate kind acts. It goes back to remembering a birthday, a wedding anniversary, or any special event and collecting or purchasing the perfect gift. The ways in which you feel after seeing the expression's on the person's face and the excitement in their eyes. It makes any gift worth giving to see the face of appreciation.
It is funny, after coming home that day I saw a clipping of an Oprah Winfrey Show discussing the exact same topic. On that show, it showed people using their imagination and a set amount that was giving to them to help others. There was so much good that was done. The people that were able to do good for others felt so happy and a sense of purpose.
That is the key and some of the answer to the question, "What Does It Cost To Give?" Giving works in two parts, it makes others feel special and it releases the person that gives. In addition, giving; gives a warm feeling of satisfaction. The Bible teaches, it is better to give than to receive.......letting us know that giving is a part of God's purpose and plan for our lives. So think about giving as the cost of feeling better, the cost of refurbishing the economy, and the feeling of making others feel special.
