Vinyl wall art or also referred to as wall decals and wall tattoos are unique additions for the look and feel of a space or room. There are so many options for materials, colors, and designs that these pieces are usually custom or originals for the wall they are being installed onto. To obtain that unique vinyl wall art piece it's really about the elements that you choose. There are a wide variety of materials and colors, from standard colors (Blue, red, black, white, brown, etc), metallic finishes (brushed chrome, mirrored chrome, gold leaf, etc), and others (glow in the dark, reflective, translucent, etc). After the color you have to choose the design, designs are usually one color with basic lines and pieces. Anything with too fine of lines is hard to setup and install. Designs can be found online at many vector based illustration websites like IStock or they can be designed custom for where they are going. The trees example here is about 4 feet high in black to create a clean contemporary feel. The piece is cut, weeded and masked for installation on your wall. Some of the more difficult pieces often require experience or skill to install. The piece is applied to the wall and the mask is removed, there are a lot of videos that can be found online showing people installing wall vinyl if searched on a search engine. A piece around 4'x4' in size shouldn't run anymore than $200.
The new direction of wall art is Digital Mural style. With Digital Wall Murals instead of being cut from vinyl the image is actually digitally printed on an adhesive backed material that can be applied to the wall like a big sticker. The advantage of digital wall murals is the detail and imagery. These images go quite big, and can be applied on walls, ceilings or even floors and become a mural on their location. I recently applied a digital mural that was created from taking a postcard of Paris from around the late 1800's, blowing it up to 3'x4' and applying it onto the the wall in a small antiques store. The result was a unique original artwork that customers were amazed with.
Don't be afraid to be bold with your interior design pieces whether its at home or in your business. Vinyl and Digital Wall Art is a unique conversation piece or backdrop. I hope that you find something that you would like to have in your home.
