Tips for Purchasing Self Defense Products

by Kevin D. Jamison of Mega Shield Security Products (6-Feb-2011)

We sell many different types of non-lethal self defense products. Everything from our highly effective C2, X26C & M26C Tasers, 100,000 to 4.5 million volt stun guns and the hottest defense pepper gel and sprays available. We also sell very loud and effective ear piercing personal alarms.

You have to decide if you want a deterent or a disabling device. Tasers, stun guns and defense sprays are disabling devices. For example, defense sprays will cause an attacker to have temporarily blindness, eye and skin irritation, and disables them because they are more interested in their own hurting than hurting you. If inhaled it cause swelling and inflammation to the mucus membrane, causing short and shallow breathing. Tasers are disabling devices that will shoot out electrodes into your attacker, and administer 50,000 volts of electricity to their body, depleting their blood sugar and paralyzing the muscles. Stun guns are hand held disabling devices. They have two electrodes that cause an electric arc. Stun guns are very intimidating because of the loud crackling noise and bright spark they emit. These devices work when the electrode make contact with the body, causing relatively the same effect as the tazer.

One more thing about defense sprays. There are many different kinds on the market. The name Mace and Pepper Shot, just refers to a brand name, and it still contains the same ingredients found in common pepper sprays. Oleoresin capsicum or OC, is a oily, resin like substance that is the main ingredient of just about every pepper spray product. So, don't go crazy deciding on which defense spray is right for you. Believe me, any Pepper Shot or Mace spray will disable an attacker.

Personal and burglary alarms are deterrent devices. Here's an example of how a personal alarm would deter an attacker. First of all, you would carry your personal alarm in your hand or on your waist, ready to activate if needed. So say you're leaving work and in the parking lot, walking to your car and a strange man appears and tries to snatch your pocket book and run. All you have to do is, pull the pin from the alarm, this releases a 120-130 decibel ear splitting high pitch sound that is very difficult to listen too and you holler "Fire" repeatedly until help arrives. Now that crimal is in escape mode. We hope this information helps.
