The challenge is the economy; the opportunity is clean energy.
Our President Obama has chosen to develop the economy of the future by creating over 5 million new, “Green/Clean” Jobs. His plan involved infusing about $150 billion over 10 years into areas in which those jobs can be developed within the Stimulus Package.
It is time to join your community to find new ways to protect our environment while strengthening our economy by creating education and training through local colleges and universities on sustainability energy, to create those green jobs locally.
You ask what is a Green Job?
It is something that impacts our environment, such as:
Five Categories of Green Jobs:
- Career Opportunities dealing with increasing energy efficiency;
- Career Opportunities that provide environmental services, such as consultants and builders;
- Career Opportunities involved in green transportation;
- Career Opportunities creating and supplying renewable energy;
- Career Opportunities, ”Smart/Green-Tech” Jobs, those which develop and test green technologies.
There are about 3.6 million green jobs in the nation currently, accounting for 3.2 percent of U.S. workers.
What’s needed to make this happen is a change in mind-set, coupled with changes in community college curriculums that train and retrain professions within current companies and new green industries, to work in the coming green economy, shared by the status of environmental.
We can’t think in terms of what it will cost taxpayers in the next five or 10 years, however--we have to think long-term to change our way of thinking and a new way to live.
The most important way is to strengthen our economy is to have people to join together and combine their skills and expertise to help rebuild their network and share their knowledge to create new jobs in green/clean technologies in all advanced professions to help protect our environment and make our world a better world to live in with a more eco-friendly environment.
Putting America on the path to a new clean energy economy means less global warming pollution; fewer asthma attacks from air pollution; more clean lakes and rivers for drinking water, swimming and fishing, more secure energy in the long-term; and more good jobs right here at home. By making smart investments now, we can set a course to re-power America with 100 percent clean electricity, refuel America by cutting our oil dependence in half and rebuild America with new jobs. At the same time, we can do our part to stop global warming.
It’s time to change the way we think and move ahead into positive ways of thinking to help strengthen our economy while protecting our environment…
