The process of developing a Christian newsletter requires a good plan and a lot of work. In part one I mentioned some of the vital steps needed to begin this process. So let's assume you have already completed those steps and you're wondering what to write about. Before you launch out into the writing world, you need to know the kind of audience you want to reach. So ask yourself the following questions. 1.Is the newsletter for children or adults and what age range ? For example is it for young adults, middle age or seniors? 2. Is the newsletter directed toward a certain group, interest or activity? Such as gardeners, cyclists, dog groomers, breeders, etc. Remember if your newsletter is directed toward a certain type of group or activity make sure you research your topics very well.
Once the type of audience is determined it's time to start researching your audience. Plan to attend gatherings where your type of audience may meet. Introduce yourself, learn all you can, get to know people and tell them about your plan to start a newsletter. By the way don't forget to take notes and write down people's name who might be interested in reading your future newsletter. Your audience is the most important facet of planning a newsletter. A newsletter without an audience is like attending a play without the actors. While these steps might seem tedious, if you are serious about having a successful newsletter, then planning ahead is the first step on the road to success. I also suggest talking to others who already have had success in this area. Their ideas and suggestions can provide guidence and assistance through any difficulties you may face. The more you know about your audience and their interests the more likely your newsletter will become successful. But remember success often comes one step at a time.
