Paradise In Payson

by Don Wickstrom of Payson Homes For Sale (2-Apr-2009)

Have you ever felt like getting away to peace and tranquility?  If you are like me, you need time to decompress, to find time for yourself and your family.  Our  home in Payson Arizona has been that very getaway.

When we bought our home we enjoyed getting  away from the heat and the bustle of life in Phoenix.  Our business' where time consuming and we tried for years to find that perfect location, that perfect Paradise.  We wanted a place that would give us a cool place to go to in those very hot summers.  We wanted to be able to have our kids up for the weekends so they could also enjoy what we had.  So we looked for places with a questhouse or two.  And we wanted horse privileges so we could ride back into the forest trails and relax and smell the pine trees.  We also wanted something close enough to Phoenix that would allow us to come up every weekend or even for the day if our business' allowed.

Well, it took us 4-5 years of weekend excursions into the mountains north of Phoenix.  We found Payson Az and we found a riverfront community at the end of a dead end road.  A riverfront community called Flowing Springs.  A community made up of the best neighbors you could find anywhere and the forest trails we longed for.  We found our perfect Paradise.  It had the barns and the out buildings we could turn into guesthouses.  Since then we have remodeled every building and have had fun watching our home become the place we dreamed of.  Adding a rock  fireplace and rock walls to the buildings.  We  have sided all the buildings in log and fenced in our property for our dogs and horse, and it has been a project of love.

We have enjoyed our 4 years on what we call the "ranch".  We sold our business' in Phoenix and have moved full time to this mountain cool community, with it's four season and it's beautiful starry nights.    We take our horses and ATV's along the river and forrest trails.  We have family for the weekend and they stay comfortably in our guesthouses.  We spend evenings trout fishing in the creeks and the E. Verde River and enjoy having Friday night "all you can eat" fish fry's, with our neighbors.

But, alas we must move.  We are leaving the state for other regions and a new business opportunity.  It will be especilly hard for my wife to leave because she believed we would live out the rest of our lives in this valley in the pines.

If you ever get a chance to find that perfect community for yourselves,  I can only hope you will never have to sell and leave like yours truly.  I hope you will be able to live out your lives in that perfect Paradise.
