Myths about wine

All wines are not created equal.

All wines are not made exclusively from grapes. While wines may be light in color in the beginning, they can be modified in numerous ways to enhance the flavor and to entice the connoisseur.

In some wines grape skins are added to change the color of the wine, while in others fruit and berry juices are added as well as other enrichments to change the body, texture and flavor of the wine.

Craft wines and or table wines are becoming more and more popular within the midwest regions of the United States. Table wines are typically considered inferior, but this is not always the case. Table wine or craft wines are not fortified, and their alcohol content is usually between 7 and 14 percent.

The great thing about these wines is that the flavors are smoother and have less tannins and preservatives in them, and are therefore more natural and healthier. This allows those who have negative reactions to tannins - such as headaches - to partake in the enjoyment of red wines with significantly reduced or even eliminated side-effects. Another great thing about these wines is that most of them can be purchased to make at home with minimal expenditure, and they can be adjusted to suit the individual's preferences.

Ultimately, wine is an art that is becoming more popular and more available to the mainstream population. So if you like to cook and you like wine, this may be a fun and new hobby to explore. Or if you like experimenting and creating new flavors, you may find this exciting. There really is at least one wine out there for everyone - so don't give up trying new ones. They are all truly different.
