by Marie Hews of A Strange Thought In A Tired Mind! (23-Feb-2009)

To start here is a quick guide of how to alleviate some of your symptoms you may be feeling right at this very moment. Take the pressure off of yourself you have a lot of changes to deal with it's ok to slow way down in your life right now. For the first 3 months after a baby is born it is tremendously busy try to focus on yourself and your baby only if you can. This is the one time everything else can be put aside and set on a shelf until you're ready to deal with it.

Get rid of the guilt of thinking your not a perfect parent which you so desperately want to be. There is no such thing out there. Give yourself time, space, love, rest and lots of self care.

To be a good parent you need to take care of yourself. If you start with these things you can begin to deal with with whatever your journey brings forth as you go through ppd and ppa. Recovery will come a lot faster if you put yourself first!
