When it comes to beauty treatments there’s something for every feature and imperfection. The latest in beauty crazes: longer and thicker eyelashes. There are dozens of products out there that encourage eyelash growth, but experts think people should be more careful with what they put near their eyes:
“Over-the-counter and FDA-approved medications seem like the perfect solution, but unless there is an underlying condition people should be more careful with these products,” says Nicole Flevaris. “With these products, there is no end-result guarantee, and you may not even be satisfied with the results.” Some side effects include permanent skin discoloration and permanently darkening the color of your eyes.
Eyelash hypotrichosis, or lack of eyelash growth, can be a problem. While medications and other remedies can increase growth, they often take 6 to 8 weeks to yield results. After growth is achieved eyelash trimming may be required.
