Make your home more appealing to home buyers.

Get Rid of Clutter!

Take a look, first of all, at your Furniture!  Yes, many people have too much, unless you are a bachelor.  You may not think  it's too much, but home buyers looking at houses for sale will think there is not enough room.  They may not be saying, "Oh, he has too much furniture."  What they will be thinking is "Wow, there isn't much room in here."  Take it out!

Again, go back to those model homes you have looked at.  They only have the necessities and maybe a nicknack here and there for accent.  You want to create the illusion of lots of space, whether there is lots of space or not.

Do you have lots of storage?  Or is it filled with stuff?  Basements, attics, garages, and sheds accumulate clutter and, yes, junk.  These areas should be as empty as possible.  Do not put those things you moved out of the kitchen or that oversized love seat out of the living room in your garage or shed!  People LOVE storage.  Make it look like there is lots of room for their "stuff"!  Take your "stuff" to a storage unit (with the rest of your "stuff") or have a garage sale.

Closets are one of the biggest places for storage that collect clutter, even though it may not seem like it to you.  Once again, Make Room!  All those extra clothes and shoes that you haven't worn for years but just can't live without, put them in a box and send them to a storage unit with the rest of your "stuff"!  Don't forget those shoeboxes with who knows what in them.

Closet space is VERY important, especially for the female home buyer!  Make it look like there is lots of it!
