Congratulations! We are happy to announce that the Southeast Harris Community Coalition of the Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol has been selected as one of the 2009 Community Stars recipients that will be honored at a special ceremony. The Community Stars Luncheon is sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency, Houston Crackdown-Office of the Mayor, and Clear Channel Communications. It will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 12’o’clock noon, at the Drug Enforcement Administration Field Office, 1433 West Loop South (Post Oak Blvd., inside the West Loop).
Many nominations were received from community and civic organizations throughout the greater Houston-Harris County vicinity, who wished for their efforts to be considered in eliminating drugs in their communities. The Southeast Harris Community Coalition’s efforts to maintain a high quality of life for its neighborhood are applauded. The coalition in collaboration with its many partners strives to make the Houston-Harris County region a safe, healthy and drug-free community.
Vanessa Ayala, Coordinator of the Southeast Harris Community Coalition said, "It is my firm belief that we as a community can have a powerful impact on reducing the harmful consequences of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse in our youth. By working together we can make our community as safe as it can possibly be."
