For years I have never really paid attention to bulldogs, I have always been blinded by the beauty and loyalty of the German Shepherd.
Then, last year, I fostered an american bulldog and pit mix. It was the sweetest dog ever. I immediately fell in love. I bought two American Bulldogs and often thought how different they look from each other, after a year's worth of research and going to dog shows. There is only one kind of American Bulldog out there for me and that is the 100% Johnson American Bulldog. These dogs are fearless and very loyal to their masters. And their faces are just so bully and mushy. It's all about the head for me other breeders look to there heighth and other aspects but for me. It's the BIG mushy face.
Now I have three of them, and they are all awesome. The strength of these dogs is so amazing. They were bred to kill wild boar and to protect the farms from other wild animals. I cannot say enough about how awesome these dogs are--sweet, loving, loyal, smart. There are very few 100% Johnson American Bulldog breeders in the US; in my state I believe there are only two of us. There is a lot of ignorance out there about these dogs. Sometimes they are confused with the pit bull, but they look nothing like a pitbull. So if you are considering a large breed dog, definitely consider this breed.
