It took me a while to think of a way to describe the food at the fusion factory. Finally, I decided the best description is Simple Food at Simple prices. And by simple I mean Simple, not bad. In fact I mean good.
Imagine you get home and there is nothing handy to eat. You look in the fridge and cupboards, and whip up some Pene and Marinara, or A meatball sandwich or perhaps some Ginger Chicken with rice. We are not talking leftovers here, but a quick meal you throw together in the spur of the moment.
This is the kind of food you will find at the fusion factory. The portions are not the huge, oversized portions of a Claim Jumper or an Outback, nor are they the tiny decorative portions of the "Finer" froo-froo eateries serving haute cuisine all over Seattle. They are the simple human sized portions of the average person wanting neither the emaciated physique of a marathon runner nor the girth of a world pie eating champion, but rather the simple and, mostly, healthy look of the average human being. In short, they are a reasonable size and about what you would serve yourself at home.
Don't expect lots of frills or fancy presentation either. This is bare bones dining with quality food. Every meal is served in a takeout container. Every Meal is served with picnic utensils. Every Beverage is served in a bottle or can, nary a cup or glass in sight. And every meal is five dollars. Every Meal!
Spaghetti and meat balls? $5. Ginger Chicken With rice, noodles, stir fry vegetables and an egg roll or won tons? $5. Spicy Beef sandwich with Chips and A Drink? $5. The utterly heavenly and ( I swear the main ingredient is some sort of highly addictive restaurant Crack) Sweet Hoi-SinPork sandwich, with Chips and a Drink? $5. Any of the 7 other homey meals from the international menu? $5. All with Bill and His Wife Goh's personal touch and attention.
Dinner on date night? Not So much. A home style lunch or a quick bite on the way to a movie, or a night of bringing work home? That's more like it.
